Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about SentinelFlock.
- What is SentinelFlock?
- SentinelFlock is an uptime and synthetic monitoring service. It watches your websites, login flows, and APIs from real browsers and alerts you by email and SMS the moment something breaks or slows down — before your customers notice.
- How often are my sites checked?
- Check frequency depends on your plan: every 30 minutes on Sparrow, every 10 minutes on Falcon, and every 2 minutes on Eagle. A failing check is confirmed with rapid re-checks before an incident opens, to avoid false alarms.
- What can I monitor?
- HTTP checks (status 200 plus expected text or regex on the page), real-browser checks in Chromium (page-load time, TTFB, JavaScript errors, screenshots, and rendered-DOM assertions), multi-step transaction flows that log in and click through your site, and APIs with JSON request bodies and status/JSONPath/regex assertions.
- How much does it cost?
- Sparrow is $5/month (10 monitors), Falcon is $15/month (25 monitors, real-browser checks, SMS), and Eagle is $45/month (100 monitors, transaction builder, API monitors, public status page). A card is required at signup — there is no free trial — and monitoring starts the moment your first payment succeeds.
- Do I need a credit card to start?
- Yes. SentinelFlock is card-upfront with no free trial. Your first check runs within a minute of checkout.
- How do alerts work?
- When a monitor is confirmed down, SentinelFlock opens an incident and notifies you (email on all plans, plus SMS on Falcon and Eagle). You also get slowness alerts when performance thresholds are breached on consecutive checks, and a recovery notice with the total downtime when the service comes back.
- What is a public status page?
- Eagle plans get a hosted uptime dashboard your customers can check themselves, at sentinelflock.com/status/yourcompany — and also at yourcompany.sentinelflock.com. It shows current status, 90-day uptime bars, and recent incident history, and it stays online even when your own services are down.
- Can I use my own subdomain for a status page?
- Yes. Every published status page is reachable at both sentinelflock.com/status/yourslug and yourslug.sentinelflock.com, with automatic HTTPS.
- How long is my data kept?
- Check history is retained for 30 days on Sparrow, 90 days on Falcon, and 365 days on Eagle. Failing-run screenshots are always kept for the retention window.
- Where do the monitoring probes run from?
- Probes currently run from US-West and identify themselves as SentinelFlock-Probe/1.0, so you can allow-list them. They only ever connect to public internet targets.
